Shoppers at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Ruston’s south side were startled Sunday morning when a woman wielding a knife stabbed another woman multiple times inside the store.
Ruston Police Lt. Kayla Loyd said patrol officers responded at about 9:46 a.m. and found the victim suffering from stab wounds. She is being treated at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston.
Witnesses said the emergency room was temporarily locked down with a crowd gathered outside under the eye of police officials.
The alleged offender, identified as Yolanda Yvette Davis, 46, of Ruston, was taken into custody by Ruston Police. She has been booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for attempted second degree murder. She is also being held on two bench warrants for failure to appear in court on unspecified charged.
Crime scene tape remains up outside the doors to the store located at 321 West California. Walmart officials said the store will be closed the remainder of the day.
