A traffic stop on Highway 544 led to a Simsboro man’s arrest on a methamphetamine distribution charge Oct. 1, according to an arrest affidavit.
Nathan Armstrong, 53, of Simsboro, was arrested by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office at about 11:55 a.m.
A deputy stopped a white Dodge Ram pulling a trailer with no license plate and a non-functioning driver-side taillight. The deputy activated the overhead lights on a marked unit and made contact with the driver, Armstrong.
During the stop, the deputy observed Armstrong sweating profusely and shaking. A K-9 was called to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle. The dog alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search found two ounces of methamphetamine in the center console.
Armstrong was advised of his Miranda rights and said he understood. He told officers the amount was approximately two ounces.
He was taken to LPNET for questioning and booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on charges of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
