Kay Lorita McBride Hogan was born on September 22, 1936, in Weston, Louisiana, the second youngest of six children born to Earl and Vera McBride. She died on October 5, 2026, at the age of ninety after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Douglas McBride, Kenneth McBride, Harold Wayne McBride, and Ronnie McBride; and her loving husband of forty-five years, Ernest Hogan.

Kay is survived by her three children: Debbie Pender and husband Joey, Donna Herring and husband Deany, and Ron Hogan and wife Sabrina. In addition, Kay was known as GoGo to her eight grandchildren: Jes Pender and wife Lauren, Dallas Herring and wife Kelsey, Katie Garcia and husband Brandon, Taylor Hogan, Zach Hogan, Billie Webb and wife Katherine, Lauren Tripode and husband Brian, Colby Webb and wife Addison, and her ten great-grandchildren. Kay is also survived by one sister, Genelle Trahan, as well as many special relatives.

Kay spent her life in the Weston community, graduating in the class of 1954 and was an accomplished athlete in high school. She married her childhood sweetheart Ernest in 1955 and built a life filled with a loving relationship and a commitment to hard work. Kay was a member of various community groups and loved supporting her children’s interests. She worked alongside Ernest in their garden and in her yard several hours a day. She was an accomplished seamstress, making most of the clothes her children wore, and in later life, she became an avid quilter.

Kay worked at Jonesboro City Hall in the billing department and later worked at Weston High School as a teacher’s aide and eventually as school cafeteria manager, developing loving relationships with her fellow workers and the schoolchildren who came through her lunch line over the years.

In 1976 Kay played a vital role in establishing the Weston High School homecoming reunions that are held every five years, a tradition that continues to this day. She loved to reconnect with old classmates, former teachers, and family. Kay was a life-long member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, but she also attended Zion Rest Primitive Baptist Church much of her adult life.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dallas Herring, Jes Pender, Zach Hogan, Colby Webb, Brandon Garcia, Craig McBride, and Todd Huddleston.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the administration and staff of The Arbor and Terrace of Ruston for the dedication and compassion shown towards Kay and her loved ones throughout her years of residence.
