Woman arrested on four bench warrants after traffic stop

A Simsboro woman was arrested Saturday night on multiple bench warrants after a deputy stopped her vehicle on U.S. 80 because it had no working license plate light.

Jessica Harris, 25, of Simsboro, was arrested at 11:06 p.m. Oct. 17 at U.S. 80 and R.W.E. Jones Road by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to an arrest affidavit, a deputy was parked near Heard Road on stationary patrol when he saw a Honda heading west on U.S. 80 with no illuminated license plate. The deputy pulled in behind the car and activated his emergency lights, and the vehicle stopped at U.S. 80 and R.W.E. Jones Road.

A records check on the driver showed four bench warrants through the Sheriff’s Office. The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle and was read her Miranda rights, which she verbally acknowledged understanding. She was placed in restraints and told she was under arrest, then taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and turned over to corrections deputies.

Harris was charged with no tail lamp. The affidavit also lists warrants charges of resisting an officer with force or violence, two counts of battery of a police officer and disturbing the peace by intoxication.
