From the publishers of the LPJ:
With the Nov. 3 election approaching, the Lincoln Parish Journal has established deadlines for the submission of election-related advertorials to the Lincoln Parish Journal.
Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m.: Deadline for submission of election-related advertorials that introduce new issues, including controversial campaign topics. These submissions must be approved for publication by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, and will run on Wednesday, Oct. 28. This deadline is intended to ensure fairness and provide candidates and other parties a reasonable opportunity to respond before Election Day.
The Lincoln Parish Journal will not accept political advertorials that specifically criticize a candidate running for office.
Wednesday, Oct. 28: Final day the Lincoln Parish Journal will publish political advertorials introducing new campaign issues or claims.
Friday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m.: Deadline for advertorial submissions that focus solely on a candidate’s platform, qualifications or campaign message without criticizing opponents or introducing new issues or allegations. Candidates and other parties may also submit responses to issues previously published. All submissions must be approved for publication by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
Saturday, Oct. 31: Final day the Lincoln Parish Journal will publish responses to campaign issues previously introduced. No new issues or claims will be permitted in these responses.
These deadlines and guidelines apply equally to all candidates, campaigns and contributors.
After Saturday, Oct. 31, the Lincoln Parish Journal will not publish any further political advertorials during this election cycle barring potential run-offs. Political display advertisements, as space allows, will continue to run through Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The Lincoln Parish Journal reserves the right to edit, reject or decline publication of any submission that does not meet these guidelines. Meeting the stated deadlines does not guarantee publication.
Our goal is to provide a fair and responsible forum for election-related information while preventing last-minute claims that cannot reasonably be addressed before voters go to the polls.
