Southern A’Chord plans ‘Let Freedom Sing!’

Southern A’Chord, Ruston’s women’s a cappella chorus, will present “Let Freedom Sing!” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, 212 N. Bonner St.

The free community performance will celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with a variety of musical selections, including patriotic songs, gospel numbers and pop favorites.

“We’ve put together a program that offers something for everyone,” director Candice Bassett said. “We hope the audience will enjoy the variety and the special sound of four-part a cappella harmony.”

The concert will also give audience members an opportunity to sing along on some of the songs.

“We’re excited to welcome the community to this free performance,” chorus president Judy Sisson said. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate our country, enjoy some wonderful music and share an evening of fellowship with friends and neighbors.”

Donations will be accepted, and refreshments will be served following the program.

Southern A’Chord, formed in 2024, is a nonprofit community chorus. The group rehearses at 6 p.m. Thursdays at the Presbyterian Church of Ruston and is always ready to welcome new members.
