“Our girls have had an excellent season leading up to regionals,” Ruston head coach Sarah Wages said. “We have a total of 29 lifters and only 12 are experienced. Through the Invitational Meet season, everyone has worked hard, stayed focused, and set numerous personal records in their lifts. Our regional team members are ready to show the results of their hard work this season We’re especially looking forward to the performances of our seniors, Taylor Durrett, Madison Jacks, and Charlee Walters.

“This is our fourth year to host the LHSPLA North Girls Regional Meet at Ruston High. We enjoy being the host school for all of our north Louisiana schools for this very important meet. This year, we will host 184 lifters from 24 schools. We’d love for the community to come out and support our strong ladies.”

Saturday’s event will be the qualifying meet for the state championship. In order to advance, the athletes will need to place in the top ten in their respective event among all competitors in their classification.

Lifters will be competing in the back squat, bench press, and deadlift.

Admission will be $10 with children aged 12 and under free.
