By Malcolm Butler

Former Cedar Creek head football coach and Director of Athletics Matt Middleton has landed at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.

Middleton, who spent the past two football seasons at Cedar Creek, is the Bison’s quarterbacks and fullback coach according to the school’s website, http://www.HardingSports.com.

News broke early last week that Middleton had resigned from Cedar Creek. However, Middleton declined comment as to where he was going next.

Middleton led Creek to back-to-back Select School Division IV playoff appearances the past two years. Following the 2021 season, he left to go to Southern Arkansas in February before returning to Cedar Creek in early July to lead the Cougars through the 2022 season.

He was named the Lincoln Parish Journal Coach of the Year following the 2021 season.

Harding is a Division II school in the Great American Conference.
