Former Lincoln Parish Police Jury Administrator/Engineer Richard Durrett has announced his bid for reelection on the Police Jury representing District 3 in the October 14 election.
“My experience as a Police Jury member, Jury President, and Police Jury Administrator/Engineer uniquely qualify me to provide professional, parish-wide assistance addressing problems arising from roads, bridges, and solid waste,” Durrett states. “I would like to utilize the experience gained in various capacities throughout my professional and business career to serve as an advocate and spokesperson for each and every resident of District 3.”
“Lincoln parish is thriving and a great place to live and work. I wish to promote the parish’s many positive features. I will always represent the residents of District 3 with pride and dignity and will provide leadership and guidance as decisions are made affecting our area,” Durrett adds.
Durrett, No Party, is from Simsboro, LA. He is a graduate of Simsboro High School and earned a BS Degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana Tech. He has been a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana for over 55 years and for 17 years served as the Administrator/Engineer for the Lincoln Parish Police Jury. For the last 2and 1/2 years, he served as President of the Jury. As a Professional Engineer, he was a member on the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Registration Board from 2000-2007, serving as its Chair in 2006. In 2005, Durrett was awarded the Lincoln Humanitarian Award by the Ruston Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. He presently serves on the Lincoln Parish Fire District No. 1 Board and has been an active member of the Rotary Club for 33 years.
Durrett has been married to Nancy Harmon Durrett for 63 years. They are the parents of three children, enjoy six grandchildren, and are blessed with an additional five great grandchildren. Durrett was born and educated in Lincoln Parish and now lives near his childhood home. He is a deacon at First Baptist Church in Arcadia where he serves as a Trustee and is Chair of the Finance Committee.
