The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested an Ida, La. man late Saturday night on drug charges and an outstanding warrant after a deputy saw him scavenging in a garbage dumpster.
A patrol deputy on La. Highway 821 saw a man wearing a headlamp taking items out of a parish-maintained dumpster about 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.

During the investigation, the man, James Christopher George, 45, appeared extremely nervous. A search of his vehicle yielded a container of methamphetamine.
A records check revealed George was wanted for failure to appear in Ruston City Court. He was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, scavenging, and the warrant.
Bail was set at $9,500.
