Woman charged with third DWI

A Ruston woman was charged with felony DWI Wednesday morning after she was stopped for her third offense in the past three years.

Tammy J. Atteberry, 57, was stopped after a Lincoln Parish deputy sheriff spotted her leaving the area of a reported disturbance. Atteberry was observed swerving from side to side on La. Highway 544.

Atteberry smelled of an alcoholic beverage and was so unsteady on her feet she could not complete field sobriety tests. A breath test at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center showed a blood alcohol content of 0.27g%, more than three times the Louisiana legal limit.

Records showed Atteberry received DWI charges in 2020 and 2023. She was booked for third offense DWI, improper lane usage, and driving under suspension.

Bail was set at $5,000.
