New path, parking coming to Tech campus

Louisiana Tech has announced an upcoming construction project to provide a new pedestrian and bike thoroughfare across campus and into downtown Ruston

A statement from the university said the Railroad Avenue Multimodal Pathway project will enhance pedestrian safety, accessibility, and overall connectivity along Railroad Avenue from Tech Drive to Downtown Ruston and will create a well-lighted pathway for pedestrians, cyclists, and scooters to navigate the campus.

Construction of the pathway will take several months and will occur in phases. Parking along the north side of Railroad Avenue from Tech Drive to the Pedestrian Bridge was blocked off so work can begin on moving power lines underground.

Students who usually park in this area are asked to park in the lot on Tech Drive north of the railroad tracks across from the J. C. Love Baseball Field.

Tech will send updates on construction and accompanying closures throughout this project and future projects such the multilevel parking deck construction tentatively scheduled to begin later this year. Once completed, the parking deck between the railroad tracks and West Mississippi Avenue will add 300+ parking spots on campus.
