Students that are preparing for the required FAFSA test are invited to bring their families to FAFSA Day on Jan. 29, from 1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Parish STEM Center on the campus of Ruston Junior High School.
The FAFSA is a graduation requirement for every high school senior, regardless of plans after high school.
Counselors from Ruston High, Choudrant High and Simsboro School will offer a group event to aid the completion of the FAFSA.
“This is a great opportunity for parents and students to get information on the FAFSA,” Ruston High principal Dan Gressett said. “It’s a Louisiana requirement for graduation. So for us to be able to provide somewhere for parents that may have questions or maybe don’t have internet access, it’s a great opportunity for the district to be able to do that.”
The free application for Federal Student Aid is the form used to determine student financial aid eligibility for continuing their education after high school.
The FAFSA has undergone a major overhaul and is new for the Class of 2024. The school counselors at Choudrant, Ruston and Simsboro High Schools are excited to collaborate on this FAFSA Day to offer students and parents/guardians the opportunity to meet with knowledgeable financial aid counselors that can assist them through the FAFSA. Attendees should sign up for the event and arrive with their FSA ID information.
The counselors that have set this up are Amy McGuire, Choudrant High School,
Erin Henderson, LPC, Ruston High School and Latisha Vernon, Simsboro High School.
