Tech tandem named CUSA performers of the week

Rodney Heath Jr. and Valentino Rudolph were named CUSA Athletes of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.

Heath earned Track Athlete of the Week, while Rudolph was named Male Freshman of the Week.

Heath, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, is the reigning CUSA Indoor 60m silver medalist. At the KMS Invitational, Heath took home gold in the 60m with a time of 6.72, narrowly beating Julian Forde by 0.004. His time ranks second in CUSA, No. 17 in the South Central Region, and No. 66 on the NCAA Indoor performance list. He ran a 6.84 during the prelims and 6.79 in the semis.

Heath also finished second in the 200m with a time of 21.67, which ranks third in CUSA and No. 23 in the South Central Region.

Valentino finished first in the 200m and fifth in the 60m. His time of 21.35 in the 200m is second in CUSA, 12th in the South Central Region, and 51st in the country. His times are first in the region and seventh in the nation among freshmen.

Valentino ran a 6.96 in the prelims of the 60m, 6.99 in the semis, and 6.96 in the finals. His times for the 60m rank 15th overall in the conference, fifth among CUSA, and 18th among regional freshmen. He was also part of the 4×400 team that ranks second in the conference.
