Fire engulfs home north of Ruston

A home on LA Highway 3072 struck by fire Sunday afternoon appears to be a total loss.

Neighbors said no one was home when the fire was detected between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Dogs penned behind the house were rescued, according to the neighbors.

The property is owned by Roger Cruse Wilkinson.

Firefighters of Lincoln Parish Fire District #1 were still on the scene at 9:00 p.m. Sunday night ensuring the fire was completely out and were unavailable for additional comment before publication time.

The fire occurred next door to the unstaffed Rolling Hills station of the Lincoln Parish Fire Department. Only the main LPFD station in Vienna is staffed with full-time firefighters; other stations containing pumper trucks and tanker trucks are distributed throughout the parish and are picked up by volunteers in case of a fire.
