Man garners third domestic violence arrest

Police arrested a Ruston man Thursday for alleged domestic abuse of the same victim for the third time.

Jerimy Nino, 37, was arrested Thursday night just a short time after he was released from the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for similar charges. Nino allegedly went to the victim’s house and was present when Ruston Police called her to inform her that Nino had been released from jail. The call apparently angered Nino, and he reportedly grabbed the victim’s arm and pushed her before leaving the residence. Officers found Nino walking on U.S. 167 near victim’s residence.

A conditional order of bail had been issued prohibiting Nino from being within 200 yards of the victim. Nino told arresting officers he was never at the victim’s residence.

He was arrested and returned to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where he was booked for third offense domestic abuse battery and violation of a protective order.

Nino was last arrested just three days earlier on Feb. 12 for domestic abuse battery by strangulation and violation of a protective order. In that incident, police saw visible marks on the woman’s neck and broken glass was observed on the kitchen floor. The woman was visibly agitated, according to an officer’s report. The judge in that case ordered that Nino not have any abusive contact with the victim. His bail was set at $25,000.

Records indicate Nino had been arrested in November for battering the same victim.

Bail for the current charges was not available at publication time.
