BREAKING: Pedestrian killed in Cooktown Road crash

Ruston Police are investigating a vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian Wednesday night.
 
Deputy Chief Chad Hamlin, RPD public information officer, said patrol officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian at 1005 Cooktown Road about 9:20 p.m. on October 16.
 
On arrival, officers provided aid to a male victim until Ruston Ambulance Service arrived. The preliminary investigation showed the man was struck in the roadway by a vehicle traveling on Cooktown Road. The man was later pronounced deceased on the scene.
 
Hamlin said the victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
 
The location is a busy commercial area populated by restaurants and a convenience store. The investigation of the accident is continuing by the Ruston Police Department.
