RUSTON, La. — The Ruston High Lady Bearcats (20-12) swept both Neville and Downsville Charter in the Ruston High Main Gym Thursday, keeping the Lady Bearcats perfect on the year in their home gymnasium.
Ruston High opened with a three-set win over the Neville Tigers by finals scores of 25-4, 25-13 and 25-9. Senior Harper Cauley led the team with 11 kills, while sophomores Baylor Cauley, Ava Crowe and Jane Ramsey all finished with three apiece. Baylor totaled 20 assists in the win.
“I told the girls we need to focus on playing our style of volleyball,” Ruston High head coach Mandy Cauley said. “Focus on what we can control. I think we did that. I also thought some of the younger girls took advantage of the court time. It was fun to see some veterans mixed in with some younger girls.”
In the second match, Ruston High won by final scores of 25-5, 25-8 and 25-8. Ramsey finished with six kills on seven attempts, while Crowe added six kills, as well.
As of last night, Ruston was still No. 15 in the power rankings. The top 16 teams will host a first round match when the playoffs begin.
The Lady Bearcats return to action at West Ouachita Tuesday, Oct. 22.
