RUSTON, La. — Ruston High School defensive coordinator Kyle Williams informed the Bearcat football team Tuesday morning that he will be leaving the school as a coach to pursue other opportunities.
”The name Kyle Williams speaks for itself in the Ruston community,” Ruston High Prinicipal Dan Gressett said. “What a great employee for us and for Ruston High School. Not only a football coach, but he did a lot of the things that people might not realize. For whatever reason, he thought it was time for him to explore some other opportunities.
“We’re gonna definitely miss him. Like I said, he’s been he’s been great for great for us here at Ruston High School, and we do wish him the best. We are absolutely going to miss him. And, you know, we’ll we’ll try to find somebody to to fill that spot and let (head coach Jerrod Baugh) handle that and see who we can get. But we definitely will miss Kyle Williams.“
The Lincoln Parish Journal learned of Williams’ resignation shortly after the football team was told.
”It’s always tough to lose a good coach, particularly with that experience,” Baugh said. “Kyle brought so much to the table for us and for these kids, and we certainly appreciate that. I tell the kids that Ruston Football is bigger than any one coach or any one player. It’s bigger than me and we’ll find a way to find the next best defensive coach that we can find. We won’t ask that person to replace the person that Kyle is because we’ve all developed our friendships, but whoever is next will be the best coach that we can find, and we’re going to start doing that today.”
According to Baugh, Williams as of right now is not planning to leave the Ruston area.
