Ruston resident Christopher Ryan Singleton was arrested Friday, Sept. 3 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, illegal use of controlled dangerous substances, CDS, in the presence of a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The last, possession of drug paraphernalia, is a felony charge.
According to the affidavit, deputies were dispatched to 295 Rabb Road in reference to a large party and vehicles blocking the road.
Deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with the home owner and advised him that the vehicles needed to be moved off the roadway. While deputies were waiting for the vehicles to be moved, there were several vehicles that remained in the roadway. Deputies observed a red Ford F-150 blocking the road and had dispatch run the license plate to find out who it belonged to. While looking up the vehicle, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the partially rolled down window. Officers looked in the vehicle and saw a large clear plastic bag filled with suspected methamphetamine and several syringe caps on the driver’s side floorboard in clear view.
While deputies were out with this vehicle, the passenger of the vehicle was Singleton, and he and the driver of the vehicle were coming to pick up juveniles. Both suspects were secured with metal restraints and read with their Miranda rights. Due to what officers had already observed, a search of the vehicle was conducted and syringes and prescription pills belonging to Singleton were also discovered.
Bond has been set at $50,000.
