Lincoln Parish teachers to receive a supplementary check in November

By Jim Wilkerson

The Lincoln Parish School Board convened for its scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 6:00 PM. Among the topics discussed was an announcement that Lincoln Parish teachers will be given salary supplement checks in November. Last year, certified teachers received $3,000 in supplement pay, and supporting staff received $1,500. This November, certified teachers will receive a $3,200 check, and supporting staff will receive $1,600.  The reason for the increase in the supplement check is because of the increase in sales taxes, according to Superintendent Ricky Durrett. “We’re up about 15.5 percent in collections,” Chief Financial Officer Juanita Duke said, comparing sales tax revenue from last September to this September.
