Investigators with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department are investigating a Saturday night shooting at the Peachland Mobile Home Park on U. S. Highway 80 between Ruston and Grambling. The shooting left one person dead and another seriously wounded.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the mobile home park about 10:15 p.m. Saturday and found one person dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The second victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, was airlifted to LSU Health in Shreveport.
As of late Sunday afternoon, officials had not released the name of the victims pending notification of their families but did reveal they were from out of town. As of Sunday evening, no suspects had been arrested.
A Sheriff’s Department spokesman said the shooting apparently took place over a $5 parking fee apparently related to a private event there but did not know if the incident is related to a homicide on the Grambling State University campus a few hours later.
The investigation into the shooting remains under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department has asked that anyone with information about the shooting to call their office at 318-251-5111 or contact CrimeStoppers either by calling 318-255-1111, texting a tip to “TIP515 plus your message” to CRIMES (274637) or online at www.rustonlincolncrimestoppers.com. Tipsters remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment.
