
The Ruston Lady Bearcats have advanced to the second round after a 3-2 win over St. Amant by final scores of 25-17, 18-25, 24-26, 25-23, and 17-15.
“We had a hard fought game against St. Amant and I’m so proud of our team,” Ruston head coach Lucie Hunt said. “We made smart decisions in clutch times and stayed together as a unit. Our defense was on fire and our blocks took care of the net. We are looking forward to Round 2 and want to thank our school, community, and students for all their support.”
Mariah Hintze finished with 12 kills and two blocks, while Hannah Rollins totaled 11 kills.
Kaylyn Brazzel had six kills with Riley Oakley finishing with four kills.
Sophie Mae Smith finished the match with 32 assists and two blocks.
Lorelei Freling, Hannah Johnson, Allie Richardson, and Natalie Beason had numerous digs to keep rallies going and to save plays in the Lady Bearcat victory.
Round two of the playoffs will have Ruston visiting Dutchtown Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
