While fans were celebrating the Bulldogs’ defeat pf Charlotte Saturday evening, across campus workers were performing the finishing touches on “Aspire,” a new sculpture between Keeny Hall and the College of Business on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
State buildings constructed with more than $2 million in public funds must be a part of the Percent for Art program, which requires one percent of constructions costs to be reserved “to acquire, conserve, or restore and install works of art for display in, on, or on the grounds of the state building.”
In a recent campus update, Tech President Les Guice said “Aspire” is designed to honor the spirit of transformation and innovation that is a core part of the university.
Aspire was constructed and installed by Portland, Ore., artist Curtis Pittman.
