‘All Clear’ issued for GSU after earlier ‘Shelter in Place’ warning

By T. Scott Boatright

An ‘’All Clear” message has been issued for those on the Grambling State University campus following a “Shelter in Place” message that had been issued earlier this afternoon.

Around 3:29 p.m. this afternoon GSU students and faculty members received a “Shelter in Place” text message because of concerns of a possible armed subject on campus.

Text messages first warned of the subject being a black male in a pink T-shirt before being updated to the subject wearing a hoodie.

The warning was reportedly issued after the Ruston Police Department told the GSU Police Department that the subject might be headed toward campus. The Louisiana State Police was also reported to be involved in the investigation.

Around 5 p.m. GSU students and faculty members were issued the “All Clear” message saying that the subject had been apprehended and was being detained by the Ruston Police Department.
