Disturbance at hotel leads to numerous charges

A Ruston man was arrested Monday morning after a local hotel reported an employee was possibly under the influence of drugs and was causing a disturbance.

Ruston Police officers responded to the Quality Inn on the North Service Road where they were told Jerrell McKnight, 33, had damaged the hotel by knocking a hole in a wall. McKnight also allegedly grabbed and attempted to punch a man. 

Officers escorted McKnight outside and he initially complied before he began arguing with officers and became aggressive. When he attempted to pull away and was restrained and arrested. During the arrest attempt, he reportedly bit Officer D. Hatcher, and headbutted the patrol car twice, leaving two dents in a door.

McKnight was arrested for simple criminal damage to property, simple battery, resisting an officer, and battery of a police officer. He was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.

Bail was set at $5,500.
