A wedding can be one of the most special days of a person’s life, and preparation is crucial. The Second Round Bakery will hold a wedding expo from 3-6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Norton Building, located at 207 W. Mississippi Ave.
The Second Round Bakery is a local business, established in 2021 and owned by Emily and Jim Wilkerson.
“We decided to help launch a wedding expo in order to showcase brides what we offer as far as things for rehearsal dinners or snacks in the room,” Emily Wilkerson said.
Food is not the only thing brides and grooms can expect to see at the event. The wedding expo will also showcase different vendors, florists, photographers, planners and a wide variety of all things wedding related.
“We’re pretty excited about the vendors we have,” Wilkerson said. “We got one who specializes in balloon arches, a couple of photo booths, some great DJs that will show off what they can do and a woman who specializes in cakes.”
The Wilkersons aim to make the event huge.
“We hope to take advantage of the holiday season with this event and show everyone what Ruston has to offer and their businesses,” she said.
This event has already gained the attention of brides in the area, including 23-year-old Malori Laporte.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to help with some kind of ideas for different vendors and to buy some wedding souvenirs,” Laporte said.
Instead of going to multiple places for items, the wedding expo will allow people to access all the resources they need to create their dream wedding in one day.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lots of vendors and businesses have suffered, along with numerous people and big events such as weddings. Wilkerson said she believes that this event is a great opportunity to help those businesses and events.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Wilkerson at emilywilkerson007@gmail.com.
