Argument leads to stabbing, arrest

The Ruston Police Department received a call from the Northern Louisiana Medical Center regarding a victim with a knife wound being brought in to the hospital. The victim has been transported to the hospital by his girlfriend.

The victim had been stabbed in the lower part of his stomach, and the victim’s girlfriend identified the suspect as Michael J. Foster. The girlfriend was Foster’s daughter.

Officers located the suspect, Michael J. Foster, at the residence where the incident occurred on Beacon Light Road and took him into custody.

Foster said the victim came to his residence, and he and the victim got into an argument. Then Foster said the victim punched him in the face. Foster said he then followed the victim to the road, and the victim lunged to hit him. Foster said he had the knife extended outward, and the victim lunging caused the stab wound.

Witnesses stated that no physical altercation took place at the front door and that Foster, armed with the knife, followed the victim and the girlfriend to the road. Witnesses stated that the victim did punch Foster, which is when the stabbing occurred.

Foster was transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and charged with aggravated second-degree battery.
