A Grambling Police officer was dispatched to Green Lane in reference to a disturbance Tuesday. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to Haven Franklin, 20, of Grambling, who said she was in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, Sakyron D. Taylor, 21, of Baton Rouge, due to her not returning $5 from her cash app account.

Franklin stated that during the altercation, Taylor took her keys, which resulted in her taking his firearm, a Glock 17 9mm pistol. At this point, Franklin said Taylor grabbed her arm in an attempt to retrieve his firearm, and the gun went off inside her room.

Franklin said Taylor took possession of the firearm and left the room. She said Taylor poured bleach on her clothes and went outside and stabbed the tires on her car. She told the officer that during the altercation, Taylor body slammed her to the floor and broke her mirror, her phone and her tablet. Franklin also told the officer that she broke Taylor’s tablet and bleached his clothes.

The officer contacted Taylor at Grambling State University police department. Taylor said he and Franklin had been in an altercation and that he took her keys and broke her cell phone and tablet. Taylor said Franklin took his firearm before the altercation and when he attempted to get it back from her by grabbing her, she accidentally discharged the gun. Taylor said he poured bleach on her clothes due to her pouring bleach on him. He added that she struck him several times while he was trying to disarm her.

Taylor was taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked with battery of a dating partner and two counts of simple criminal damage. Also, due to the evidence, Franklin was also arrested and booked on the same charges.
