Ruston police patrol makes arrest

A Ruston police officer recently arrested a male on charges of possession with the intent to distribute.

The officer was patrolling the North Service Road when a red Hyundai Sonata without registration was observed. When the officer pulled over the driver, Courtland T. Nation, 22, a marijuana smell was coming from inside the vehicle.

Nation, of Ruston, told the officer that the vehicle belonged to his sister and showed the officer his ID card, stating he did not have a driver’s license. The officer asked Nation to exit the vehicle and asked if there was anything illegal inside the car.

Nation said there was marijuana in the book bag in the floorboard of the passenger front seat. Upon a search, the officer found a cup with five individually packaged clear baggies containing marijuana and a sealed bag with the word “Flavor” on it, also containing marijuana.

Nation was then arrested and transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. Bond was set at $5,000.
