Pursuit ends with crash, arrest

A Farmerville man is facing numerous charges after fleeing a state police traffic stop.

Louisiana State Police reported a trooper saw a Nissan Sentra was traveling south on LA Hwy 33 at a high rate of speed about 7:30 Friday morning. During a stop of the vehicle, the trooper learned the Farmerville Police Department held an outstanding warrant on the driver, Akeem Walker, 24, of Farmerville.

Walker was told he was under arrest but fled the scene in the Sentra continuing south on LA 33. During a brief pursuit, Walker struck another vehicle crossing from Frazier Road. The other driver was not injured.

After the crash, Walker fled on foot west toward Frazier Road. While running, Walker was struck by the door of a moving vehicle. The trooper caught up to Walker, rendered aid, and called for an ambulance. Walker was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained from the vehicle.

Other troopers and Lincoln Parish Sheriff deputies responded to the scene to assist.

According to state police, once Walker is released from medical treatment, he will be charged with speeding, hit and run driving, aggravated flight from an officer, and no driver’s license in addition to the Farmerville warrant. The crash remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.

As of Saturday evening, Walker had not been booked at the detention center.
