Furry friends clean up at Spring Dog Dip

By Salma Bates

Many parish residents cleaned up with their pup at the Pre Vet Club’s annual Spring Dog Dip held recently on South Campus.

Dogs from all sizes came for their personal spa day. The services offered included a bath, nail trim and flea dip.

It was a special deal for the special furry friends.

“Our vet club loves to give back to the community,” said Jaylie Waalk, social media publicist who helped work the event. “It gives us a chance to give back to the community that gives back to us. We love doing it.”

Like Waalk, many other students also volunteered during this event. It gave them the chance to gain experience in their expertise with dogs.

They also used it as an excuse to spend their whole day playing with the pups.

“I always do these kinds of things to get a mental break from school. It’s always fun to help out with our community,” said Riley Runkle, a second-year student-volunteer.

This is not the only way that the Pre Vet Club loves to give back to the community. They also participate and help in grooming pets at the local adoption shelter for animals, 4Paws.

If a Lincoln Parish resident happened to miss the recent Dog Dip, don’t worry. The Pre Vet Club hosts these events every year in the fall and spring.
