With Easter weekend approaching after a stormy first part of the week, the parish is preparing for festivities as well as closures.
Tonight, the city of Ruston is hosting its inaugural Easter egg hunt at the Ruston Sports Complex. The event was limited to the first 1,000 children who were signed up, and before April even began, the event was booked up. For residents attending tonight, remember that gates will not open until 5 p.m. and every child will need to present his or her ticket to enter. Parents and/or guardians are welcome and do not need a ticket; however, there is a limited amount of space on the field, so please be mindful of the children hunting eggs.
Ruston Farmers Market is also hosting an Easter egg hunt with live music from Kirby Rambin at 11 a.m. April 16 at the market.
As far as closures are concerned, Lincoln Parish schools will be closed Friday and Monday. Ruston City Hall and Utility Billing Office will be closed Friday, and there will be no recycle collection or commercial garbage collection on Friday. Lincoln Parish Library will be closed Friday through Sunday but will reopen Monday, April 18.
Louisiana Tech University will be closed Friday and Monday as well, and Grambling State University will reopen after its spring break Tuesday, April 19.
