Earlier this week, the City of Ruston held a planning and zoning commission meeting to discuss matters related to sororities, fraternities and more.
Revisions to the zoning code in regards to Greek life in Ruston were considered and unanimously passed during the meeting.
The revisions are set to give a definition of what a fraternity and sorority is. There are also planned to be new requirements for parking calculations in regards to fraternity and sorority houses. All of this will be presented before the board of aldermen in May.
Another proposal discussed zoning amendment for Amazing Care Real Estate L.L.C. located at 765 South Bonner Street. This building is currently zoned for residential use. The unanimously approved amendment will rezone it for commercial use instead.
There were no public comments during the zoning portion of the meeting.
