BREAKING: Stabbing death at Farmerville chicken plant leads to search for suspect

Union Parish Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect after a fatal stabbing at a Farmerville area business.

A warrant for second degree murder has been issued for 48-year-old Michael Bruce Causey, a work-release inmate at the Union Parish Detention Center. Causey was working at the Farmerville plant of Foster Farms Thursday morning when he allegedly stabbed and killed another Foster Farms employee.

Causey fled the scene on foot, and then was picked up and dropped off at the Super Save across from D’arbonne Woods Charter School. The school was briefly locked down while authorities searched the area for Causey.

The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital but later died. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Causey is considered armed and dangerous, according to Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates.

Causey is still at large and is described as a Black Male, 5’9 and 235 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. The sheriff’s department believes Causey will try to reach Baton Rouge.  He’s considered armed and dangerous.

Foster Farms is a national poultry processing company with facilities at Arcadia, Athens and Choudrant as well as several western states.
