Domestic call prompts drug, theft arrest

A Choudrant man was arrested Thursday after an alleged assault on a family member.

At about 5 p.m., Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an Oak Street address regarding an assault that had just occurred.

The victim said the displayed cuts and abrasions came from Michael C. Fredericks, 24, striking her. The victim and a neighbor stated Fredericks attempted to “tase” the victim in the front yard.

Deputies located Fredericks’s vehicle on Stable Road and stopped him. A search of the vehicle discovered plastic containers of methamphetamine and a firearm. The deputies were made aware that Fredericks was a suspect in an open theft investigation. He admitted to stealing a pair of boots from a porch when he was barefoot in cold weather.

Fredericks was transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where he was booked for domestic abuse battery, theft less than $1,000, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance.

Bail was set at $13,000.
