Crash results in charge of DWI

A Louisiana State trooper was dispatched to a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 Monday morning that resulted in the arrest of a Natchitoches male.

Upon arrival at the scene, the trooper found a silver Toyota in the westbound ditch with its front left in contact with a metal guardrail. The driver, later identified as Edmond Martin, 50, had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the trooper reported.

The trooper asked if Martin had been drinking, and Martin said he was driving back from Atlanta and had a couple of drinks before leaving. Martin also had a severe lack of balance when given the standard field sobriety tests.

Martin was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. He submitted to a blood alcohol test, which came back at .247g%. Bond was set at $1,500.
