Tucked away in nearby Calhoun is the Indian Village Harvest Farm. The farm has recently kicked off its summer seasonal activities and events. With plenty to do for the whole family, Indian Village is steadily expanding to create even more attractions.
Thursdays and Saturdays are “you pick” days, which consist of people of all ages coming out to pick their own strawberries on the farm. If individuals choose to pick strawberries on a Saturday, they also have the option of face painting and fresh squeezed lemonade.
For those in Lincoln Parish, be sure to be on the lookout for the roadside stands Indian Village sets up during the summertime stocked with fresh produce. Employee Kimberly Holliman had great things to say about this attraction.
“Working the roadside stands is probably my favorite thing about this job, along with the face painting on Saturdays,” Holliman said.
The farm is constantly hosting visitors, she added, including field trips and birthday parties.
Children who come to the farm can explore the playground with a slide created from an old fire truck. The farm also offers a petting zoo with pigs and goats, along with animal feed available for purchase.
Indian Village also has homemade soap, popcorn and jam available for purchase.
Owner William Cook mentioned the new additions in the making for Indian Village.
“We’re planning to add a wedding venue right where the strawberry patch is,” Cook said. “We’re also expanding our pavilion to add more registers because business is quickly growing.”
Indian Village Harvest Farm is located at 1976 Guyton Swamp Road in Calhoun.
