Fight leads to arrest

Ruston Police arrested a woman early Sunday morning after she allegedly went to a residence and started a fight.

Officers responded to a Louise Drive address regarding a report of a fight. The caller reported the suspect, Jacqueline Ramsey, had just left in a Nissan sedan. Responding officers spotted a Nissan pull into a nearby Maryland Avenue home but the vehicle was a SUV and was not approached.

Victims at the scene said Ramsey came to the house and started a fight. They provided texts and social media posts where Ramsey said she was on her way and comments she made after the fight. A steak knife was provided to officers that Ramsey allegedly brought with her but never used as a weapon. One of the victims had blood on her clothes and an injured eye from Ramsey striking her. The victim stated the Nissan that officers saw at the Maryland Avenue residence belong to Ramsey

Officers interviewed Ramsey at her Maryland Avenue home. She denied being involved in the fight and said she had not been to the victims’ house. Officers saw blood on Ramsey’s left forearm and a scrape on her elbow. A steak knife matching the knife left at the scene was found on the hood of Ramsey’s car.

Officers arrested Ramsey for simple battery, aggravated battery, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. She allegedly took her minor child with her to the fight.

Bail was set at $25,000.
