An ATM caught on fire yesterday at First Horizons Bank at 1327 North Trenton Street, but the situation was quickly resolved by Ruston Fire Department and local law enforcement.
“It appears to have been an electrical issue,” said Ruston Fire EMS Director David Wells. “We killed the power to it and then hit with a dry chemical extinguisher. Then law enforcement and the bank secured money inside.”
Due to the nature of the fire being at the bank and not knowing its exact location, all units were called to respond to the bank, as is procedure for these types of situations.
“They didn’t know if it was in the structure or not,” Wells said. “If it’s a fire at a light pole, we’ll just send a command unit and one engine. It was best for this to send everybody.”
Ruston Fire received the call at 12:22 p.m., and Wells said the last truck left the scene at 12:52 p.m.
When LPJ reached out to First Horizons Bank, they declined to comment, stating company policy would not let them discuss the situation.
