A short 35 minutes away from Lincoln Parish lies a hidden gem perfect for a summer weekend getaway – Lake D’arbonne.
Plenty of activities are available for people of all ages. A new beach was added recently, along with cabins available for weekend stays. These are just a couple of the many attractions drawing people in to the lake. Quickly developing, Lake D’arbonne is garnering attention.
Local D’arbonne resident Brent May said, “The fishing in this lake is completely unmatched.”
Throughout the 15,000-acre lake, one can find an abundant supply of bluegill, bass, and catfish waiting to be caught.
Once people are done fishing for the day, visiting Rhett’s Tails and Shells is a local hangout. This is a seafood restaurant right on the water, offering activities of all kinds, such as outdoor seating with TVs, sand volleyball and a bouncy house for the kids.
After dinner, residents say find a spot outside near the water to take in the view.
May’s wife, Amanda May, said, “The sunsets are my favorite part of it all. A boat ride or a view from the dock while gazing at the sunset is the perfect end to a day at the lake.”
For some quality family time, there’s a campground waiting nearby with amenities such as swimming, biking, canoeing, fishing and plenty more. Lake D’arbonne State Park has something for everyone.
Administrative coordinator of the park, LaShonda Andrews, said, “We have the most beautiful views and incredible fishing.”
The park’s hours of operation are Sunday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
