Escapee arrested in Lincoln

A Ouachita Parish escapee was apprehended Friday evening at a Lincoln Parish residence.

Deputies from the Lincoln and Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Departments went to a Belton Road address after receiving information escapee Anthony Garner was at the residence. Garner had escaped earlier Friday from a correctional facility in Ouachita Parish.

While at the scene, deputies saw and heard someone inside, but no one would answer the door. Records showed the residence belonged to Kenneth Underwood, 31.

Deputies spent several hours at the residence attempting to talk the occupants into surrendering and coming out.

A search warrant was obtained, and deputies entered the residence, finding Garner and Underwood inside. A records check revealed Ruston Police held a warrant for Underwood for DWI-first offense and Third Judicial Court had issued one for failing to appear on a traffic charge.

Underwood was arrested on the warrants in addition to charges of resisting an officer and accessory after the fact for hiding and concealing Garner.

Garner, 30, was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and then turned over to Ouachita Parish authorities.
