A woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly broke into a Grambling residence and stole several items.
Grambling Police responded to a Bowmans Place residence where the victim said he left home about 9:30 a.m. for a doctor’s appointment. When he returned several hours later, he found his door kicked off the hinges. The victim reported several items missing, including music CDs, a bag of medication, and a coffee can of coins.
The victim named two individuals he believed were responsible because he left them sitting in his yard when he went to the appointment. One of the individuals called the victim once he returned home and said the second suspect, Brittani Mardis, 34, had broken into the house.
Police found a witness who saw Mardis with a bag containing the victim’s medication and a coffee can containing coins.
Officers located Mardis on Bennett Road. She was in possession of the coffee can of coins. Further investigation revealed Mardis had purchased items from Discount Liquor in Grambling with a container of change.
Mardis was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. Bail was set at $7,000. Later in the day, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office added a second charge of failing to appear in court in a drug case.
