GSU selected 10th in SWAC Preseason Poll 

After a tumultuous off-season, GSU opens the 2022 campaign Friday in Illinois.

The Grambling State University volleyball team was chosen 10th in the preseason predicted order of finish, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced on Friday morning.  

Grambling State garnered 95 points to be selected 10th, while Florida A&M, the SWAC Volleyball Tournament Champions, earned the top spot with 13 first-place votes and 251 points. Jackson State received four first-place votes and was chosen second. 

Alabama State was tabbed third with 213 points, followed by Prairie View A&M (157), Southern (154), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (134), Alabama A&M (128), Bethune-Cookman (122) and Texas Southern (117). Alcorn State (73) and Mississippi Valley State (32) rounded out the predicted order of finish.

Grambling State will hold a scrimmage against Henderson State on Monday inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m.

The Lady Tigers open the 2022 regular season at the Saluki Bash in Carbondale, Ill., on Friday. Grambling State will face Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Friday, followed by a match against host Southern Illinois on Saturday.
