After posting back-to-back shutouts last week in a 1-0 win over Abilene Christian on Friday and forcing a scoreless draw with UL-Lafayette Sunday afternoon, Sydnee Korchak was named the Conference USA Goal Keeper of the Week.
Korchak will lead the Lady Techsters (2-1-1) into tonight’s contest at SEC foe and 12th ranked Ole Miss at OM Soccer Stadium with first touch scheduled for 6 p.m. The contest can be seen on SEC Network +.
In the shutout win over Abilene Christian, Korchak registered four saves before falling just one save shy of her career high, with seven, in the 0-0 draw with ULL.
The sophomore keeper has made three starts in goal for LA Tech this season, notching a 2-0-1 record while registering 13 saves and posting a .929 save percentage.
Korchak has now gone over 207 minutes without conceding a goal. The only goal surrendered came during the second half in the 63rd minute of the season opener against Murray State.
In the opener, Korchak registered two saves, one of which came in the final 90 seconds against a breakaway attempt to preserved the 1-0 lead sealing the Techsters’ first win of the season.
The honor is the first C-USA Player of the Week in Korchak’s career.
She is the third LA Tech keeper to take home the award and first to do so since teammate Christina Hjelvik did so during the 2020-21 season. The first Tech keeper was Kylee Seto in 2015.
Korchak and the Lady Techsters hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Oxford, Miss. to take on No. 12 ranked Ole Miss on Thursday before visiting Mississippi State in Starkville for a Sunday afternoon match.
Both games can be seen on SEC Network Plus.
