The Mailman delivers jambalaya for DART

If you love jambalaya. If you hate cooking. If you want to support a good cause and help keep families safe …

Call Karl Malone Toyota!

For the third year in a row Rusty Wilfong, Service and Parts Director at Karl Malone Toyota, is gathering a group of supporters and friends and cooking pots of jambalaya to benefit DART.

On October 6th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., jambalaya fans can drive up to Karl Malone Toyota in Ruston and buy fresh, hot plates.  They will be getting a great meal, and will also be benefiting DART in its work to provide shelter, support, and services to families who arrive at its door in fear and trauma from abuse at the hands of someone who professes to love them.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Karl Malone Toyota or by calling 255-1387 to make an order.  Half pans ($100, which serves 10) and full pans ($200, which serves 20) may be ordered ahead of time and picked up that day.  Free delivery is available with advance notice for orders of 10 plates, a half pan or a full pan.

Karl Malone has been a friend to DART for many years.  The Mailman believes in anonymous philanthropy, so suffice it to say that he and his wife Kay have reached out many different times to help the children and families at DART.  In a state where 100 children a year lose a parent to domestic violence, this support is vital.

This event has been a very popular one.

“Last year we had to make another pot, so this year we are making nine pots of jambalaya,” said Wilfong, who is know all across our area as one of the best — and friendliest — tailgate chefs around.

If you want to pick up lunch or grab some for dinner, you can do either or both on October 6th.  Last year, some people bought a pan and froze it for later.  Karl Malone thanks you regardless of the size of your order, and so does DART.
