
A Jackson, Mississippi, man is in custody after he allegedly invaded a Lincoln Parish home and committed a rape.
Friday morning the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible sexual assault in progress. When deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the residence at a high rate of speed.
Additional responding deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply. The pursuit continued until the suspect crashed near the intersection of Frazier Road and La. Highway 33 and the driver fled on foot.
Deputies established a perimeter and began searching the area with a K-9.
LPSO detectives were notified and interviewed the victim and processed the crime scenes for forensic evidence.
The investigation developed Ramon Stevenson, 23, as a suspect. Deputies saturated the surrounding area and continued to search for Stevenson throughout the day.
Detectives located Stevenson in Jackson shortly before midnight. The Jackson Police Department was notified and following a brief standoff, authorities took Stevenson into custody.
Stevenson was transported back to Lincoln Parish and booked for first degree rape, home invasion, and aggravated flight from an officer.
Further investigation has led to additional charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, two counts of third degree rape, and an additional count of home invasion.
Stevenson is being held at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center with bail set at $3.6 million.
The investigation by the Sheriff’s Office is continuing.
