Driver asleep at the wheel booked for 3rd DWI

A man found asleep at the wheel in the middle of a Lincoln Parish road was booked for felony DWI Wednesday evening.

About 6:00 p.m., Lincoln Parish deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in the middle of Mutt Hood Road just south of La. Highway 146 with the driver unconscious behind the wheel.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel contacted the driver, Brandon Cole Henry, 21, of an Arcadia address in Claiborne Parish, and he woke up.

Henry exhibited signs of alcohol use and several bottles of alcoholic beverages were found on the front seat.

After he was examined by medics, deputies questioned Henry. He appeared distraught and based on signs of impairment, he was arrested for felony 3rd offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

A records check showed Henry’s driver’s license was suspended and arrests for two previous DWI charges.

Henry refused to submit to a breath test at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. In addition to DWI, he was booked for driving under suspension and open container in a vehicle.

Henry’s bail amount was not available at press time.
