
A Ruston woman was arrested Saturday after police investigated a domestic abuse case at Cinnamon Place Apartments on Apple Drive.
Ruston Police officers spoke with a man who said he and his wife had a verbal altercation in their bedroom. The man said the altercation escalated when his wife, Melissa Traylor, 30, allegedly threw a bottle, striking him in the face.
When he saw he was bleeding from an open wound on his forehead, the man left the residence to call police. However, he stated he did not want to pursue charges.
Officers also spoke with Traylor who said they had been arguing all night because both been drinking. She stated they were in the bedroom having a verbal argument when her husband threw an alcoholic beverage in her face. In turn, she threw an energy drink can at his face. She alleged the husband punched her in the face with a closed fist after he was struck with the can.
Officers found no evidence the husband struck Traylor. There were no marks on Traylor’s face nor injuries to the husband’s hands. The energy drink and was found in the bedroom.
Based on the mandates in Louisiana state law, Traylor was arrested for domestic abuse battery and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
