Free child safety seat check, booster installation set for Saturday

A free child safety seat check and booster installation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 24, at Banner Ford, 6300 Frontage Road in Monroe.

In addition to the child safety seat assistance, the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will offer free booster seats for those who qualify. The booster seats will be offered while supplies last, and recipients must have their vehicle and child present, and the child must be at least 4 years old, 50 pounds and has outgrown the harness for their child safety seat by weight or height. If the child does not pass the 5-step test, the child should ride in a child safety seat with a harness or a booster seat.

This event is to help parents and guardians select the proper child restraint, ensure their child is place in the restraint properly and ensure that the restraint is correctly installed in the vehicle.
